Here's a good question...
It's silly cause this probably should have been our first post. I'm not very conventional in my thinking and also I'm a tiny bit scatterbrained!
But I wanted to tell you how we've go to where were going.
I help run a little shop called Tenderfoot in Brislington. It's a crafty haven full of neat bits made by local folks and we run workshops. I always loved the idea of a Stitch and Bitch! I even called Making Things Club a Stitch and Bitch for a good long while! But as a lot of things go, I decided that a Stitch and Bitch wasn't my idear of a good name for what I wanted to do.It lends to the notion that we were a bunch of yammering chickens go on about horrible things and sewing or knitting. That's not what I wanted to do at all! I wanted to create an atmosphere where anyone who wanted to make something crafty could come around and have a good time, eat cake and make a new friend or two. So that's were Making Things Club started.
I realised that not so many people can't make it out to sweet Brislington and I asked my pals Jayne and Brett if I could host my little crafty soiree over at their shop! I was so lucky to also be able to host it at Shop on Christmas Steps! Their ethos is exactly what I stand for! And come on have you been there it's the cutest thing ever! Finally I could meet new people that loved crafting as much as I do!
One faithful evening my pal Chris (Lazy Crafternoons) approached me with the idea to take Making Things Club to the next level. Make it more of an event where people could congregate with the craftiness, but also hear some good music and maybe have a nice drink! And voila! Making Things Club is what it is today!
Also before I get outta here I have to say a big thank you to Cafe Kino! I'm so glad they decided to host
our little party!
I'm so excited to see how everything goes this next Sunday. I'm a bit nervous and also very anxious to be there and make things and meet all my potential new crafty friends!
Until then enjoy the sunshine! And I cannot wait to meet you all next week!
xx,Lori
